Throughout history, the Old Taichung Railway Station has stood strong like an old tree, deeply rooted into the city of Taichung. It weaves the patterns of the city’s development, and holds rich memories from the past to the future. Along with the completion of the New Taichung Train Station and the surrounding ECO Railway, the city is now ready to bloom; like a budding flower.
The 2018 Taichung Light Festival is part of the “Old Town New Life Expo.”
The festival celebrates Taichung’s centennial architecture, glorious history
and prosperous future through light art projection. Together, we will witness the magnificent rebirth of the old town.
“The Blossom of Light” is a 10-minute 3D Mapping Projection that combines animation, music, and lasers. The stunning 3D stereoscopic effect of the projection brings the Old Taichung Railway Station to life.

The idea for Hua.Happen originates from the concept of “Modern fast-pace living” and was created for the 2018 Taichung World Flora Expo. The large-sized character gazes at a Dandelion as a reminder for busy people to slow down and take the time to soak-up the beauty surrounding them at all times. At night, the installation comes to life through light projection and interactive bubble blowing.

“The Greeting lights” interactive installation combines ground projection and multimedia technology to offer fun interactive games for visitors to the festival. A carpet of projected animated imagery is triggered as people walk through the images creating interaction between visitors and the station itself.
